Dennis Fast > GIANT INUKSUK AT CHURCHILL, MANITOBA.

I enjoyed the sense of humor of the quarry worker who created this giant inuksuk with his heavy equipment. Although people disagree on how to spell inuksuk, they all agree on the charm of its shape and the legends that surround it.
Dennis Fast > ARCTIC TERN IN FOG.

The Arctic Tern is always striking whether in sunshine or in fog. This bird is about to attack me for straying too close to its nest.
Dennis Fast > ARCTIC TERN AT SUNSET.

Known for their pugnacious attacks near their nest sites, and tireless long-distance migrations, it's a treat to see a tern at rest.
Dennis Fast > SUNSET REFLECTION OVER HUDSON BAY.

Northern landscapes are among my personal favorites. This photo was made over a very small pool hidden among the rocks overlooking Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. By choosing a wide-angle lens and picking just the right point of view, I was able to create an interesting shape in the dark foreground that also mirrored the quiet sunset. I love the resulting "reflective" mood!
Dennis Fast > SUNSET OVER BIRD COVE.

Hudson Bay in a rare moment of stillness reflects the sunset perfectly. People who have seen this print often assume it to be a watercolour, but even photography can be art! I love the tranquility and quiet strength of the rocks which seem almost "soft" in the context of the still water sunset.
Dennis Fast > POLAR BEAR MOTHER & CUBS.

This mother and her cubs were resting in a secluded nook of small trees. Newly out from her birthing den, she now was faced with a long march to the sea ice to find food for herself and her young cubs. Sometimes going without food for as long as 8 months, mother bears have been known to lose 70% of their body weight in one natal season!
Dennis Fast > MALE POLAR BEAR RELAXING IN FIREWEED.

The simple elegance of a white bear in a field of purple fireweed is breath-taking. In the times I have camped with bears, I never tire of seeing the "king of beasts".
Dennis Fast > POLAR BEAR MOTHER & CUB OF THE YEAR.

After a long winter in a den where this young cub was born about 10 weeks prior to emerging, it feels good to see the sun. The look of adulation and complete confidence in the eye of the young bear makes this photo very powerful.
